  • Background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science and Engineering.
  • Experience in polymeric materials science and engineering, with experience in PP (desired), PET, and PE.
  • Hands-on experience in chemical experiment set-up, chemicals/materials handling, and property modification/characterization.
  • Priority will be given to those having skills and experience in plastic rheology modification and rheological data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and data analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of standard software tools
  • The candidate must be self-directed and able to work well in a team environment, both in lab and in industrial facility.

The academic year starts mid-September each year; applicants in this pool will be considered as vacancies arise in the department.

This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the Department of Chemistry through spring quarter 2012. Selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.

Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed. The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department.

Positions typically start at the beginning of an academic quarter. Your application will be maintained in this pool for consideration through March 2012.

Required Qualifications: (Postdoc/Senior Postdoc) Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, material sciences, or a related discipline (A.B.D. candidates will be considered but must have Ph.D. by August 2011); (Senior Postdoc) three years of postgraduate experience; (Research Assoc 5) Master's or equivalent degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, material sciences or a related discipline and two years of related experience OR a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in one of the areas listed above (Ph.D. preferred).
