1. The Unité de Chimie des Biomolécules (UCB), Department of Structural Biology and Chemistry at the Institut Pasteur (Paris, France), has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral research position in glycochemistry.

2.  This postdoctoral position is available from October 2009 for one year and possibly subjected to a one year renewal.

3. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary network of organic chemists, structural chemists, microbiologists, and immunologists.

4. He/She will take part in a research program dedicated to the development of new anti-infectious vaccines. He/She will be responsible for developing efficient innovative synthetic strategies to complex bacterial oligosaccharides, and conjugates thereof. Besides, he/she will be involved in the development of new purification and analysis methods suitable for the later targets.

5.  He/She will communicate research progress on a regular basis.

6.  Eligibility requirements:Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and to have proficiency in conducting multi-step organic synthesis. Significant experience in the field of complex carbohydrate and/or natural product synthesis would be an advantage. Besides, applicants must have good skills in purification techniques and a good knowledge of 1D/2D NMR and mass spectrometry methods. Good written and oral English communication skills are an asset.
