Highlights:
  1. An opportunity exists for a postdoctoral research fellowship in the department of Chemistry and Polymer Science, Stellenbosch University, South Africa
  2. The position is in the Organometallic Research group. The research to be undertaken involves the development of new homogeneous catalysts immobilized on mesoporous supports as well as on dendrimers.
  3. The evaluation of these materials in catalytic transformations of unsaturated hydrocarbons will form a central part of the research.
  4. Requirement: PhD (must have graduated within the last five years).
  5. Experience in synthetic organometallic chemistry, catalysis, dendrimer chemistry and the preparation of mesoporous materials would be an advantage. Hands-on experience with a range of analytical techniques especially those used to characterize solid materials would be an added advantage.
  6. Commencement of duties: As soon as possible
  7. Closing date: 7 May 2010
  1. Enquiries:
Send a letter of application, accompanied by a comprehensive curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and the names and contact details of at least two referees, to Prof. S.F. Mapolie on the e-mail address: smapolie@sun.ac.za. Please put “Post-doc application 2010” in the subject field of your e-mail.
  2. Applicants should request at least two referees to forward confidential reports by the closing date directly to the same address
