Postdoctoral positions in Stem Cell Biology at University of Sheffield, UK

Highlights:
1                Two Postdoctoral Positions are available to work at the Centre for Stem Cell Biology of the University of Sheffield, UK. The candidates will join an active research program, led by Dr. Marcelo Rivolta, aiming to develop a stem cell-based treatment for deafness.
2                A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available as part of an MRC Translational Stem Cell Research Grant, awarded to Dr Marcelo Rivolta. The Research Associate will participate in experiments designed to test the potential of human auditory stem cells in animal models. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent qualification and must have experience in the mammalian auditory system and surgical expertise with small rodents. Knowledge of hearing functional tests (DPOAEs, ABRs, etc) and/or stem cell culture techniques would be highly desirable.

3                A second position, funded by the RNID, will aim to explore the molecular signalling cascades involved in the control of stem cell renewal and differentiation. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent qualification and must have a strong background in cell and molecular techniques. Experience in bioinformatics and microarray analysis would be highly desirable.
4                Both posts require excellent personal and presentational skills and the ability to work with colleagues and students.
5                Positions are available immediately, for three and two and half years, respectively. For further details or informal discussions, please contact Dr Marcelo Rivolta; e-mail: m.n.rivolta@shef.ac.uk; or apply at http://www.shef.ac.uk/jobs.
