2. RIKEN is seeking an Initiative Research Unit Leader for FY2009.

3. The Initiative Research Unit Leader Program was established in FY2008 to afford opportunities to outstanding non-Japanese young scientists to pursue independent research, further develop fields advanced at RIKEN, and to promote internationalization of the research environment.

4. The unit leader will select research associates and technicians to independently assemble a research unit and further his or her research objectives.

5. The Position: Full time, at RIKEN Campus in Japan, beginning Mar. 1, 2010.

6. Contract conditions: Salary is JPY10.9 m/annum (pre-tax) and commuter/housing allowances.

7. One year contacts, renewable for up to a max. five-year period.

8. Budget: JPY38.5 m/FY; JPY10 m also may be made available as one-time startup fund.

9. Deadline: 17:00 Japan time October 30, 2009.
