Faculty position in Mathematical Statistics

  1. The School of Science at the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, seeks Associate Professor in Mathematical Statistics
  2. KTH is the largest technical university in Sweden.   5. Subject description: Probability theory and statistics and their applications.
  6. Qualifications: Persons eligible for employment as Associate Professor have been awarded a doctor´s degree or possess scientific expertise of a corresponding nature, or other professional abilities relevant to the subject area and the tasks required by the position. It is also required to have passed a course in university pedagogy, or to have corresponding abilities acquired by other means. In addition, personal pedagogical ability must have been demonstrated and documented. A particular criteria of assessment will be the applicant’s ability to apply, receive funding for and develop research projects and ability to lead education and research activities.
  1. Evaluation criteria: Equal emphasis will be put on the evaluation of the pedagogical and scientific skills. Scientific competence, demonstrated by the applicant’s own research and publications in international journals, is of great importance for the position. Of great importance for the position is also the applicant’s teaching skills and the ability to contribute to the teaching of mathematical statistics. Special merit is given to research and pedagogical experience in probability theory and/or statistical inference or their applications in science and engineering. Ability to teach in Swedish is a requirement. Emphasis is also put on experience supervising doctoral students and master theses, as well as on the ability to attract external funding for research.
