PhD position in nanophotonic media

Highlights:
1. FOM Institute AMOLF is offering two PhD positions in the group Photon Scattering (led by Prof. Ad Lagendijk) of AMOLF’s department of Nanophotonics.

2. To develop new acoustic techniques that enables to focus in and through scattering media and will enable to locate hidden objects.
3. Scattering prohibits focusing waves inside a strongly scattering medium, and it disables the detection of objects located in the scattering media. Recent revolutionary developments in optics have made clear at hat these fundamental limitations can be lifted by spatially controlling wave fronts by individually addressing a large number of pixels in combination with a feedback mechanism.

4. We want to develop phase plates for acoustics. This project is a collaboration with the world-leading acoustic laboratory Laboratoire Ondes et Acoustique in Paris, led by Prof. Mathias Fink. This research is part of the Shell-FOM Industrial Partnership. Location: Two years at AMOLF in Amsterdam and two years at LOA in Paris.
