PhD position in nanophotonic media: Photon Scattering

Highlights:

1. Developing and studying new nanosized light sources: The main objective of this proposal is to invent well-defined light sources and sinks, and perform new experiments with them. In parallel new models of light propagation will be developed that take into account the fundamental character of each type of source.

2. These novel embedded sources will allow us to observe a number of new phenomena in nanophotonic materials. Among other, techniques we will use second-harmonic generation, two-photon fluorescence, and simple luminescence to generate these embedded sources in nanophotonic media. The research will be carried out at FOM institute AMOLF.

3. Applicants should have (or should expect to have soon) a master degree in hysics, or Physical Chemistry, or an equivalent diploma giving access to doctoral studies, without having to acquire any further qualifications.

4. The position is intended as full-time (38 hrs / week, 12 months / year) appointment in the service of Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) for the duration of four years. After successful completion of the PhD research a PhD degree will be granted at University of Twente or the University of Amsterdam.

5. Several courses are offered, specially developed for PhD-students.

6. AMOLF assists any new foreign employee with housing and visa applications and compensates their transport costs and furnishing expenses.
