Postdoctoral position at Emory University

Highlights:
  1. The McCarty laboratory at Emory University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with practical expertise in studying ion channels and/or receptors using electrophysiological approaches in combination with molecular biology and biochemistry.
  2. Candidates will support several ongoing research projects, including:
    1. Characterization of two novel peptide toxins that inhibit ion channels,
    2. Regulation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs),
    3. Study of dynamics in the pore of the CFTR chloride channel.
  3. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in at least several of the following methods:  single-channel recording, macroscopic recording, manipulation of recombinant DNA, preparation of recombinant proteins, protein-protein interactions, and HPLC.
  4. Atlanta is a vibrant and diverse city with excellent entertainment, restaurants and sports activities. Candidates will have the opportunity to join an expanding and dynamic research group located in a new pediatric clinic and research building on Emory's campus.
  5. The Center for Cystic Fibrosis Research, one of eight centers of research excellence with substantial research funding support from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Inc., represents a collaborative research team of ~70 scientists, clinician/scientists, and engineers centered around translational and basic research in CF that takes advantage of a variety of assets at Children's, Emory, the nearby Georgia Institute of Technology, and elsewhere in Atlanta.. 
  6. Emory University School of Medicine is a major research center with over $400M of NIH funding per year.  The continuing collaboration between Emory School of Medicine, Georgia Institute of Technology, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta provides excellent opportunities for collaborative research in Cystic Fibrosis. 
  7. The Center for CF Research and the McCarty lab currently have research space in the Emory-Children's Center and construction is underway for a new building with an additional 110,000 ft2 of research space. 
  8.
