Position for Asst. and Assoc. Professor in Biotechnology

1. Those with a PhD in the natural sciences and a proven track record in the social sciences or humanities will also be welcomed. We are looking for a candidate with a significant number of years’ post-doctoral experience in research and teaching, with proven management, communication and social skills. Familiarity in research methodology development would be welcomed.

2. The Assistant or Associate Professor will play a major role in shaping and participating in the department’s research and teaching programmes in the field of biotechnology and society.
3. Applicants should have a PhD degree in an appropriate social science or humanities field and an affinity for the natural sciences.

4. The appointee will take responsibility for PhD supervision, undergraduate and Master's programme teaching, and obtaining funding. He/she will be allowed ample opportunity for the development of an individual research programme.

5. We wish to appoint someone who can provide academic leadership combining research on practical applications with theory development, as demonstrated from previous work. A good command of English (written and spoken) is essential. Non-Dutch candidates should be willing to master Dutch within two years.

6. Benefits: The candidate will be appointed as an Assistant or Associate Professor depending on relevant experience. The appointment is on a tenure-track basis (up to 5 years) with the prospect of a tenured position based on a successful evaluation.

7. The salary for a full-time Assistant Professor is based on scale 11 and 12 ( max. € 4.970/00 gross per month). The Associate Professor salary is based on scale 13 and 14 (max. € 5.920/00 gross per month). In certain cases the starting salary is based on scale 10.

8.
