Instrumentalist in Advanced Geochemistry and Mass Spectrometry Facility

Highlights:
  1. An advanced geochemistry and mass spectrometry facility is currently being established in the School of Earth and Environment at The University of Western Australia, under the direction of the recently appointed Premier's Fellow, Professor Malcolm McCulloch.
  2. The almost completed new centre will comprise state-of-the-art instruments - multi-collector ICPMS, quadrupole ICPMS, Ar-F 193nm excimer laser system and thermal ionization mass spectrometry - supported by wet chemistry clean-room facilities. The centre will be focused on producing high quality and high impact innovative research and developing new cutting-edge techniques.
  3. A highly motivated and skilled instrumentalist is required to manage this new state-of-the-art plasma and thermal mass spectrometry facility. The successful applicant will help facilitate innovative research programs across the earth sciences, with a strong focus in marine environmental geochemistry, climate change and coral reefs.  We are seeking a person with a thorough understanding of the principles and applications of isotope geochemistry and mass spectrometry, a strong work ethic, high quality analytical standards, and a keenness to facilitate cutting-edge innovative research. The appointee will ensure optimal operation and maintenance of the instruments, actively engage with users and assist with the development and application of geochemical techniques.  The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
