Position for Research Associate in Infection and Immunity at University College London

Highlights:
  1. The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £31,778 - £38,441 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
  2. Duties and Responsibilities: The postholder will be responsible for the development of serological and molecular assays for Varicella-Zoster Virus as part of a collaborative project with Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool and the HPA Centre for Infections (CfI) Colindale to improve diagnosis and management of VZV in children undergoing bone marrow transplantation. The project will investigate correlates of protection following VZV infection and vaccination and depending on outcome will lead on to further studies of host and viral determinants of protection. 
  3. The postholder will contribute to co-ordinating reference genotyping of rashes and adverse events following vaccination. It is intended that the assays developed for serology will become part of the routine work of the reference lab.
  1. The post is initially funded for one year.
  2. Post doctoral applicants should have a background in virology with a PhD in a relevant subject. Pre-doctoral applicants with equivalent experience, including experience of working as a clinical scientist in virology or research in a related subject are also invited to apply and registration for a PhD will be considered.
