Postdoctoral position in biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics

Highlights:
1.Employer: University of California San FranciscoCoffino labLocation: San Francisco, CA, United StatesDescription: I am seeking a bright and highly motivated recent PhD graduate to join my lab for post doctoral training.
2.  Our lab is trying to better understand the workings of a giant protein machine, the proteasome, which selectively destroys proteins. We want to find out how it finds, unfolds and ingests its substrates. Selective degradation of labile regulatory proteins is essential to cellular regulation; proteasomes also eliminate potentially toxic misfolded proteins. The misregulation of proteolysis is implicated in a broad array of disease mechanisms, and the proteasome has been validated as a target of cancer chemotherapy.

3. The laboratory website(http://microbiology.ucsf.edu/micro/faculty/Coffino/research.html ) provides further details on our research interests.Candidates should have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or cell biology. The position is supported by NIH funding. Salary is determined by NIH postdoctoral scale.
4.  To apply: Please email philip.coffino@ucsf.edu  with a current CV, statement of research interests and goals, and the names and contact information for three references. Please include “post doctoral applicant” in the subject line.
