Awards are given to exceptional young scientists who hold the M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and who are in the early stages of establishing an independent laboratory and research career. Traditionally, successful candidates have held faculty positions for at least one year. Up to six McKnight Scholars each will receive three years of support, beginning July 1, 2012.

Develop an autonomous intelligent pattern-recognition programme integrated to the Andor – Zeiss confocal microscope system of the Gene Expression and Biophysics Group in the Synthetic Biology ERA.
Assist group members with the analysis of the data using the programme(s) developed.

Biosynthesis of natural product, postdoctoral position available
The successful candidate should have a recent Ph.D in chemistry/biochemistry, a strong scientific record, and preferably have experience in isolation and characterisation of polar metabolites. Applications are encouraged particularly from candidates who have solid chemical background and are willing to acquire new techniques in molecular biology and enzymology to apply to the field of natural product biosynthesis.
