THE INDIAN NAVY 10+2 CADET (B TECH) ENTRY SCHEME (PERMANENT COMMISSION) COURSE COMMENCING – JAN 2012

Applications are invited from UNMARRIED MALE CANDIDATES (fulfilling the conditions of nationality as laid down by the Govt of India) to join the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala under 10+2 Cadet (B Tech) Entry Scheme.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

Age. 17 to 19½ years (i.e. born between 02 Jul 1992 & 01 Jan 1995. (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification. Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent from University/Board with at least 70 % aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII).

Physical Standards

(a) Height and Weight. Minimum height - 157 cms with correlated weight as per age.

(b) Eye Sight. The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

Note: There will be no relaxation in physical standards.

Computational Biologist position at DuPont Hyderabad

Understand the research questions from experimental biologists and formulate relevant in silico analyses

Critically analyze a wide variety of experimental and computational data with a view to solving the underlying research questions

Generate hypotheses from in silico analyses and evaluate the errors and gaps in the evidences supporting the hypotheses

Identify and generate datasets for scientific testing and evaluation of algorithms developed within the group.

Computer science postdoctoral position

Applicants should have (by the starting date) a PhD in computer science, computational linguistics or a closely related discipline and ideally will have a strong background in one of the research activities carried out at the NLPC, namely: corpus linguistics – lexicography – syntax and syntactic analysis – ontologies and semantic analysis – machine translation – logical analysis

The willingness to contribute to the teaching programme of the NLPC by means of a specialized course is welcome. The applicants should enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills. Fluency in English is required.

Research position in Environmental Nanochemistry (PhD Position)

This Ph.D program will lead to a Ph.D in Natural Sciences, or Natural Sciences with a specialisation in Chemistry and comprises four years of full time study at the post graduate level.

The program includes three years of research and one year of course work. The time period can be extended to a total of five years if teaching and/or other departmental duties are included in the contract.

Applications are invited for a post doctoral position in the group of Dr. Vibha Bansal in the Department of Chemistry at University of Puerto Rico at Cayey (Undergraduate College), Puerto Rico (USA).

The position will be available for one year beginning from Jun 1, 2011 and it may be renewed based on progress toward research goals and availability of funds. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in the area of protein biochemistry.
