Is Postdoc crime? why we need to pay 500 dollar just to attend the interview through Video-Conferencing
“Recently University of Madras advertised for several faculty positions but the news is they ask 500 USD (app Rs 27000) from each applicant just to hold interview for those candidate who will apply from abroad.”
What does it mean? do you think its justified to ask this much money to conduct interview through Video Conferencing via Skype. or this is another form of corruption to make money.
It is impossible for a candidate to pay this kind of money just to attend the interview. If this continue this will hamper the scientific development of the country. The candidate from abroad have to make mind not to return back to own country, otherwise they become bankrupt.
Asking a bank draft is already a huge burden and this time you are asking money just to hold interview, this is shameful on the face of our education system. Rather being appreciated for being far away from our family to uplift our country, you are discourage the scientist to upgrade their skills and sharing of knowledge.

Post-doctoral research position in Theory of Quantum Matter
The research group ‘Theory of Quantum Matter’ in the unit for Condensed Matter and Quantum Optics, in the Department of Physics at Stockholm University, invites applications to a post-doctoral position within the general area of the research done in the group. At present, our group consists of four permanent members, a junior researcher and five Ph.D. students.
We study various forms of quantum matter, in the context of solid state systems, as well as artificial ones, such as those that are formed in ultra cold gasses, and certain states in quantum-optics. The methods we use range from numerical and symbolic computations to quantum field theory calculations utilizing advanced concepts from geometry and topology. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of the research areas of interest for our group, and is expected to be able to do independent work, work in collaboration with other group members and participate in the supervision of Ph.D. students.
