International Health Degree Programme in Europe

Highlights:
  1. The European Master of Science Programme in International Health is part of tropEd, a network of 33 European and 7 non-European institutions for higher education. In existence since 1996, tropEd collaborates closely with institutions in Asia, Africa, and the Americas in providing postgraduate education and training opportunities.
  2. The European Master of Science Programme in International Health is a one year, full-time study programme taught in English excepted in Mexico (in spanish). The main objective of the programme is to raise awareness of current global health concerns. Students become qualified to identify and critically analyse key factors shaping the health and well-being of populations in low- and middle-income countries and to formulate effective and appropriate responses to complex health-related issues.
  3. Admission
    European Master of Science in International Health Programme
The minimum admission criteria for the tropEd EMMC are:
Bachelors degree with honours (240 ECTS credits / 4 years) or equivalent;
2 years relevant professional experience;
2 persons recommendation letters minimum;
Internationally recognised English proficiency certificate equivalent to TOEFL score of 550/213/79-80 or IELTS score 6.0. (Reference CEEC – Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). No other test will be accepted. No English test is required if a first degree in English has been completed.

  2. The joint Common selection criteria for students are:
Excellent first degree with outstanding grades and/or other study results;
Strongly convincing letter/statement of motivation/statement of intent, including a career plan;
Excellent recommendations by one academic and one professional referee;
Well-developed thesis proposal.
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Description
If you are a non-EU student (Category A):
Contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs: € 4000
Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 4000 / semester
Monthly allowance: € 1000 / month
If you are an EU student inside the EU (Category B):
Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 2000 / semester
Monthly allowance: € 500 / month
If you are an EU student outside the EU (Category B):
Contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs: € 3000
Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 2000 / semester
Monthly allowance: € 500 / month
  1. Participation costs must be understood as any compulsory administrative/operational cost related to the participation of the student in the EMMC (e.g. library, laboratory, tuition, social security and insurance costs, etc.). Any other costs that may be charged in addition (e.g. for participation in fieldwork activities), being compulsory or voluntary, must be communicated to the candidate student at application stage.
  2. Monthly allowance amounts may be increased in order to cover the additional costs of students with special needs; EMMCs will have to inform the Agency accordingly in the context of their annual student scholarship applications.
     
  3. Caterory A Scholarships can be awarded to masters students selected by EMMC consortia who came from a country other than an eligible applicant country and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc., …) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.
  4. Category B Scholoarships can be awarded to any maters students selected by EMMC consortia and who do not fulfil the Category A criteria defined above.

Category B
You are graduate student from one of the 27 EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Croatia, Turkey or the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
OR
You are a Third-country student who is/was resident and carry(ied) out your main activity for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in these countries.
