Molecular Microbiology postdoctoral position in Germany

Position Description: The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute – investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. We invite applications for a Postdoc position for three years initially.
Successful candidates will investigate the pathobiology of Aspergillus fumigatus within the framework of the international ERA-NET PathoGenoMics-project “OXYstress – Human fungal pathogens under oxygen stress: adaptive mechanisms to hypoxia and reactive oxygen species and their consequence for host interaction and therapy” starting in March 2011.
Main topics of the project are:
• Proteomics and transcriptomics of Aspergillus fumigatus
• Generation of mutant A. fumigatus strains
• Study of host-pathogen interactions
Requirements: Doctoral degree in biology, chemistry or life sciences. An excellent background in standard techniques of molecular biology, microbiology as well as biochemistry is expected. Knowledge of and hands-on experience in 2D-gel electrophoresis, microarray analysis, and infection biology are advantageous.
Salary is paid according to German TV-L depending on the applicants qualification. The HKI is an equal opportunity employer.
