Senior research fellow in Photonic Quantum Information Technology at institute of photonics

Highlights:
  1. Interdisciplinary research, and the creation of multidisciplinary research teams, has become a vital method to address major challenges of modern science and society. Facilitating such research interactions by utilising advanced photonics technology is the primary remit of the University of Strathclyde’s Institute of Photonics (www.photonics.ac.uk), a major UK and European centre of excellence. As part of a SUPA initiative in Quantum Information involving universities across the SUPA partnership, we now seek to appoint an individual with the ambition and vision to create a thriving programme in experimental Photonic Quantum Information Technology. Interest in one or more areas including atom chips, integrated quantum photonics, single-photon sources, integrated waveguide structures, diamond photonics, and quantum-controlled logic gates would be welcome.
  2. This post is available for up to 4 years in the first instance, with formal review of performance at the end of the first 2 years. This post is part funded by the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA).
  3. Within the Institute’s organisation, you will be a Senior Research Fellow and as such, you will be expected to develop independent research programmes that will complement and extend existing activity at the boundary between photonics and Quantum Information Technology. One of your aims will be to contribute leadership in the coordination of integrated photonic device expertise throughout Scotland, by playing a crucial role in linking with experts in micro-fabrication and establishing a coordinated approach to this work

Postdoctoral position in Computational Cell Biology at Ireland

Highlights:
  1. This is a temporary 2 year postdoctoral scientist position in Computational Cell Biology. Systems Biology Ireland (SBI; http://www.ucd.ie/sbi/) focuses on elucidating the design principles of signal transduction networks in mammalian cells and applying this knowledge to important questions in biology and biomedicine, such as cell fate decisions (differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis).
  2. A main aim of SBI’s research is to develop and apply computational models based on biological experimentation that open new avenues for understanding and treatment of human diseases on a molecular level. Ongoing projects include the spatiotemporal dynamics and statistical analysis of signalling and transcriptional networks that govern cell proliferation, differentiation and motility.
  3. SBI is using modern transcriptomics and proteomics technologies to experimentally address these questions. The successful applicant will work closely with experimentalists at the interface between dynamic system analysis, mathematical statistics, engineering, bioinformatics and biology in a multi disciplinary research community at SBI.
