Research fellow in pure and applied chemistry

 Highlights:
  1. Based in the Centre for Molecular Nanometrology, you will work on the Molecular Nose (http://www.molecularnose.org/) project funded through the RCUK Basic Technology program.  This four year £5 million funded project is a collaboration between the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde to develop new sensor technologies for analysing and interpreting cellular signal transduction networks.  To carry out this research, we are building an interdisciplinary team of molecular biologists, micro-engineers, Raman spectroscopists, bioinformaticians and computational scientists.  This position is for a Raman spectroscopist specialising in surface enhanced Raman scattering using metal nanoparticles.
  2. Salary £28,983, Fixed-term until 31/03/2011
  3. The Centre for Molecular Nanometrology is based within the Departments of Pure and Applied Chemistry and Physics and is one of the major centres in nanotechnology in the UK.  This new centre of excellence in molecular nanometrology was created in 2005 at Strathclyde and has over 50 full time researchers and state-of-the-art instrumentation and laboratories. The spectroscopic facility within the Centre is now the leading multi-line Raman facility in the UK as well as having state-of-the-art synthetic laboratories, dedicated bioanalytical laboratories, dark field and atomic force microscopes.
