Highlights:
- Develops a data standards strategy that includes both the development of internal data standards to simplify interactions within the company, awareness and adoption of external standards and participation in the broader data standards community.
- Identifies applicable external standards, and tailors/interprets them as needed to meet internal business needs and culture.
- Identifies gaps, develops and documents internal technical standards and mentors development personnel in their use
- Participates as integral part of design teams, coordinates engineers and support staff in project efforts, and performs technical reviews.
- Provides complex technical consultation to other organizations; interacts with senior personnel and internal senior management.
- Interacts with external academic, consortia and government efforts to develop data standards in concert with the wider community.

- Individual will also need to balance and prioritize the requirements of several internal and external stakeholders in an ever-changing environment.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent combination of education and experience; in biological sciences, computer sciences or related field preferred
- Five or more years of application architecture and/or application development experience in which you developed and applied standards
- Participation in consortia or other cross functional forums in which standards were developed, debated and adopted
- Experience working with technical programs and products, vendors, and families of technologies
- Knowledge of the software development company cycle and client requirements
