Highlights:
1. The Centre for Environmental Strategy (CES) is an internationally-acclaimed centre of excellence on sustainable development.
2. CES is seeking a PhD student to carry out doctoral research on economic and technical aspects of consumer behaviour for flexible electricity networks.
3. This 3 year PhD studentship is funded by EPSRC, covers the UK level of tuition fees and pays a maintenance grant in line with national guidelines for three years -subject to satisfactory progress. EPSRC’s eligibility criteria state that students must demonstrate a relevant connection with the UK, usually established by being ordinarily resident for a period of three years immediately before the date of application for an award.
4. Ordinarily resident means not wholly or mainly resident for the purpose of full-time education. The ideal candidate is expected to hold a Masters degree in engineering, economics, environmental sciences or social sciences. Consideration may also be given to individuals who do not hold a Masters degree but have acquired research skills based on a number of years experience in specific relevant fields.
5. The PhD student’s research progress will be supervised by Prof Mathew Leach (m.leach@surrey.ac.uk ) and
Dr Jacopo Torriti (j.torriti@surrey.ac.uk ).
