- As part of this MPhil/PhD work the student will learn how to apply ESI FT-ICR/MS with IRMPD, BIRD as well as a suite of different quantum chemical procedures to gain insight into aspects of cluster stability and fragmentation, geometries and abundances of small ion clusters in the laboratory and their role as model systems to study dissolution and precipitation reactions one molecule at a time.
- Successful applicants will join a dynamic, research-oriented department with strong collaborative links to the Physics, Chemistry and other natural science departments as well as new high-performance supercomputing facilities on campus. Applicants should hold a BSc or Diplom in Geochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline and should be motivated to perform experimental as well as fundamental simulation studies.
