The open postdoctoral scholar position in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology

The University of California, Irvine has an open postdoctoral scholar position in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will do in vitro and in vivo experiments on molecular motors, investigating how motors function and are regulated. Some in vivo work will be done in Drosophila, and the rest in cell culture.Experimentally, knowledge of determining details of protein-protein interactions (e.g. pull-downs, combined with molecular biology techniques) is important, as is biochemical experience purifying proteins and organelles, and general facility with molecular biology. Experience with Drosophila and fluorescence microscopy are both very useful, though not as critical. The lab has a strong biophysics component, and the successful applicant will be expected to work well in such a cross-disciplinary environment, and collaborate well with others, but is NOT required to know biophysics or become a biophysicist. The minimum qualification is a Ph.D in biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, or a closely related field.
